The artist

Myotis, real name Rick Casta, III, is an American electronic artist currently based out of Rock Hill, South Carolina. He first started out tampering with music as a High School student when he recorded remixes under the name “Iri$h Temper” using a program called Virtual DJ, from 2011 to 2013. After graduating highschool, he picked up the guitar for the first time and began learning Johnny Cash songs and pop songs at the age of 19.

Fast-forward to 2015, and whilst fantasizing about becoming a musical artist, he chose the name “Myotis” as his moniker after the Hans Zimmer song of the same name. In 2017, mere weeks after attending his first rave and witnessing Dubstep superstar Excision live, he bought his production laptop and began attempting his first 2-3 demos in the fall of that year.

After releasing multiple singles in the summer of 2018, Myotis released his debut EP in November of that year, titled “Carnality”, followed by “Dark Sugar” in 2019, and “Funeral Procession” and “XX” in 2020.

He has remixed for electronic artists such as Daft Punk, Aesthetic Perfection, and Code:Pandorum; as well as non-electronic acts such as Ice Nine Kills, Capture (formerly Capture The Crown) & Bring Me The Horizon.

From 2019 to 2020, he created a monthly DJ mix series for Soundcloud and Youtube called “SUBMERGE” which featured a variety of electronic subgenres played throughout each mix, from well-known to very obscure.

In 2021, Myotis released his debut album “A Good Curse To Have”, a departure from the typical upbeat EDM he usually produces and his first foray into aggressive electronic metal.
